Breast Imaging

Dr Jones & Partners has five metropolitan plus several regional clinics where we offer Breast Imaging.

Our services for patients include referrals from General Practitioners and Breast and Plastic Surgeons.

We offer two central specialty clinic locations at Burnside Hospital (Attunga Medical Centre) and St Andrew's Hospital with dedicated radiology breast teams, including a breast Radiologist, mammographers and breast sonographers.

At our two specialty clinics, we offer the latest in diagnostic breast imaging technology including mammograms, Volpara breast density software, tomosynthesis, ultrasound and biopsies including Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) or Core Biopsies. We also perform pre operative localisation procedures such as carbon tracking and hookwire placement.

In addition to outpatient services we also hold daily breast clinics where the Breast Surgeon and Radiology team consult together to image and manage patients with breast symptoms or those who are at high risk of breast cancer.

Our two clinics are involved in regular multidisciplinary breast meetings, where the patients diagnosis of breast cancer is discussed for the purpose of management and optimal prognosis for the patient. In these cases, consent for this discussion has been obtained from the patient.

At our St Andrew's breast centre we offer MRI and MRI biopsies. Our Burnside clinic offers Stereotactic and Tomosynthesis Vacuum Assisted Core Biopsies (VAB).

Fine Needle Aspirate/Biopsies can be referred by your General Practitioner, however Core Biopsies need to be referred by your specialist. Our specialist breast Radiologist will review your case, and determine what test is appropriate depending on your symptoms or clinical history.

If a biopsy is required, the results will be available from your referring doctor, usually on the following day.

If you or your doctor have any queries, our staff are happy to discuss this with you.
